AEP, X-energy Eye 960-MW Nuclear Plant at Retired Indiana Coal Site, Backed by Amazon powermag.com

AEP and X-energy will assess a 960-MW Indiana nuclear plant using 12 of X-energy’s 80-MW Xe-100 reactors at or near the retired Breed coal station; construction would require a final investment decision. Amazon plans to fund development and buy the plant’s power under a long-term agreement intended to cover project costs and shield AEP customers from them, making this the second project in Amazon and X-energy’s plan to develop more than 5 GW of U.S. nuclear capacity by 2039.
