Joshua Bird built a small drone that flies with a single propeller, using a hinged hub to control pitch and roll and custom code to make rapid motor-speed adjustments. The prototype also uses an infrared beacon for position tracking; Bird plans to add a scanner that could let it navigate using features in its surroundings.
