How CFS will rev up our SPARC tokamak for its Q>1 fusion moment blog.cfs.energy

Commonwealth Fusion Systems says it will present plans at the American Physical Society’s Division of Plasma Physics conference for operating its SPARC tokamak toward Q>1, when fusion output exceeds the energy used to sustain the fusion process. The company is evaluating multiple operating configurations, including low-confinement mode at a 12.2-tesla magnetic field and high-confinement mode at 8–9 tesla; CFS says SPARC is being assembled and is expected to turn on next year.
