Retiring BSD-Compress Proposed For Linux PPP Network Code phoronix.com

Linux developer Qingfang Deng has proposed removing the kernel’s BSD-Compress support for PPP, citing decades-old, orphaned code and a decoder bug that can cause a fatal error on 64-bit systems. The patch is under review on the netdev mailing list; PPP links can continue without compression if the error occurs.
