Researchers Qiang Su, Yi Long, Fuyu Duan and Qizhou Lian introduce scBOA, a Bayesian-optimization framework that selects parameters for reference-assisted single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis using objectives such as annotation purity and marker agreement. Tests on simulated data and human blood, pancreas and heart datasets found that its performance depends on the chosen objective and analysis setup; it was not uniformly better than 14 alternative strategies.
