LitPivot: Developing research ideas through dynamic contextualization within the literature landscape huggingface.co

AI2 and University of Pennsylvania researchers developed LitPivot, a tool that helps researchers revise proposals by organizing relevant papers around a proposal’s problem, contribution, and evaluation plan, then offering evidence-backed critiques and suggested edits. In a study with 17 researchers, experts rated LitPivot-assisted ideas as better grounded in relevant literature than ideas developed with a text editor and AI chat tool; participants also reported stronger understanding of the literature and greater improvements in novelty and usefulness. The system will be presented at UIST 2026.
